1st CIRE Microneurosurgical Simulation Course 

On September 27th and 28th, 2024, the University Clinic of Neurosurgery at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg hosted its inaugural CIRE MicroNeurosurgical Simulation Course. This  event brought together neurosurgical residents from various leading institutions across Germany, including participants from TU Munich, Charité Berlin, Dresden, Mannheim, and Essen.

Designed specifically for neurosurgical residents, the course provided hands-on training using advance simulation models developed at our Center for Innovation, Research and Education (CIRE). These models are unique in their ability to replicate the entire neurosurgical procedure—from patient positioning and head fixation to the intricate steps of duraplasty and cranioplasty. 

This allowed participants to practice complex neuro-oncological and vascular procedures in a safe and controlled environment.Throughout the two-day course, participants engaged in interactive workshops and practical sessions, focusing on critical skills such as the use of surgical microscopes, precise handling of neurosurgical instruments, and mastering different surgical approaches. The sessions were led by experienced faculty members, ensuring a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

The course was provided at no cost, emphasizing our commitment to accessible and high-quality training in neurosurgery. Given the overwhelmingly positive response, we are excited to announce plans for regular simulation courses, aiming to further support the next generation of neurosurgeons.
