COURSES

The fundamental assumption of simulation-based training is that skills acquired in simulated settings are directly transferable to the operative setting. Surgical simulation and training offers an opportunity to teach and practice skills outside of the operating room environment. Our patented high-fidelity phantoms allow the life-like simulation of neurosurgical procedures, from craniotomy training or placing an external ventricle drain to the microneurosurgical clipping of cerebral aneurysms. Our patient specific virtual and augment Reality simulators  provide immersive simulation of even the most complex neurosurgical procedures.

MICRONEUROSURGICAL TECHNIQUES AND SKILLS TRAINING COURSE

Our course participants receive training in the use of the operating microscope and associated microneurosurgical instruments, basic microsurgical dissection and suturing techniques, craniotomy, placement of external ventricle drainas and Aneurysm Clipping.

Target Audience

The course is aimed at novice and experienced people who want to train or practice neurosurgical procedures. CIRE courses will always be free for medical students.

ELECTIVE: NEUROSURGERY COURSE

In this course we offer a deeper view into the complex and versatile specialty of neurosurgery to the participants. This elective is primarily conceived for medical students and focuses on four subdisciplines (vascular neurosurgery, neurooncology, spinal neurosurgery and microsurgery) with a special emphasis on simulation in neurosurgery. In this course we present the current state of relevant studies and teach the basic microneurosurgical techniques and procedures. In the last part of this elective the participants can apply their gained theoretical knowledge to our microsurgical simulators. They train on patient specific phantom models and get to know our high-tech virtual- and mixed reality simulations.

Target Audience

This elective is primarily designed for medical students and participants interested in neurosurgery with little to no practical experience in neurosurgery. This course is free for all medical students.
